Founded in 1994, the Woodbury History Society includes our neighbouring villages of Woodbury Salterton and Exton, both of whom have made significant contributions to life and events within Woodbury Parish.
This ancient Woodbury, nestling beneath the Iron Age fort of Woodbury Castle, is in East Devon, and has given it's name to many communities throughout the world, mainly as a result of resident explorer's who settled in new colonies in the "New World", Australia and New Zealand.
The Society holds a large collection of documents, records, publications and historical images, many of which are published on this site, accessed via the menu bar at the top left of the page.
Membership is currently (2025) at around 80, and meetings at the Woodbury Village Hall are held bi-monthly, details on the "Meetings" page. We are very lucky to be able to secure some very knowledgable speakers who can explore historical topics in an involving manner.
This website is under periodical "adjustment", but you can read how it began on the "How it started" page.
Please feel free to explore this site, gain knowledge of your community and hopefully we can tempt you to come to one of our meetings at the village hall.
To contact the Society for any reason, please reach out via the Contacts page.
Thank you.
