The Great Flood of 1960
In October 1960, continuous rain for a long period culminated in serious flooding in all parts of the Parish of Woodbury, and indeed in the general area. Details of this can be read in the Woodbury Flood file below, taken from the book 'Woodbury the Twentieth Century re-visited', produced by Roger Stokes. Almost 10 years later, a flood prevention scheme was put into place to allieviate future disasters. Documentary evidence of the construction of this has only recently been found, and is presented in two files below. The data and pictures which were collected in 1969-70 are not of high quality, but show quite well some of the construction process. This is the only record that we have.
